Spain’s Ministry of Health notifies 190 coronavirus deaths in a day
The number of deaths from Covid-19 continues to climb alarmingly in Spain. The Ministry of Health has notified 190 deaths this Tuesday (24 August), the highest daily figure since May.
It brings the total official number of deaths with a positive coronavirus test to 83,527 people since the start of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the number of new infections has maintained its downward trend, adding 10,072 in the last 24 hours. Since March last year, some 4,804,424 positive tests have been reported in Spain, according to official statistics.
The cumulative incidence rate also continues to fall, standing at 305.61 in 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants, some 12 fewer than on Monday.
Hospital occupancy has also eased slightly with 6.79 percent of ward beds occupied (7.11 percent on Monday) and 19.28 percent of places occupied in intensive care units (20.04 percent the day before).
